Obsolete 0419 - 1009-6 When All Programs are Closed for a Full Benefit Month

Previous Policy

When UPP closes and the individual is not covered under CHIP, PCN  or a Medicaid program for one full benefit month or more, the individual must re-apply. 

1. A new UPP application for an adult can be accepted only if it is an open enrollment period.  UPP applications for children may be accepted at any time.

2. The eligibility worker must do a complete eligibility determination including income eligibility.

3. If the individual is determined to be eligible, authorize a new 12-month certification period.

For a married couple where only one spouse was closed for a full benefit month or more, follow procedures for adding a spouse in section 1009-3.
