Obsolete 0414 - 1009-6 When All Programs Are Closed for a Full Benefit Month

End Date: March 31, 2014

When UPP closes and the individual is not covered under PCN, CHIP or a Medicaid program for one full benefit month or more, the individual must re-apply. 

1. A new UPP application can be accepted only if it is an open enrollment period.

2. The eligibility worker must do a complete eligibility determination including income eligibility.

3. If the individual is determined to be eligible, authorize a new 12-month certification period.

For a married couple where only one spouse was closed for a full benefit month or more, follow procedures for adding a spouse in section 1009-3.
