Medicaid Policy
Title XIX of the Social Security Act (Act) authorizes medical assistance for certain low income individuals through a variety of programs. Each program has its own eligibility requirements, but the term "Medicaid" is generally used to refer to all of the medical assistance programs under Title XIX of the Act. Although each program has its own eligibility requirements, some general provisions apply across all of the programs. Section 100 discusses these general provisions as follows: authority of bureau director; DOH (Department of Health) and DWS (Department of Workforce Services) employee requirements; rights and responsibilities of applicants and recipients; voter registration requirements; protection of client information; client complaints; and fair hearings.
