To qualify for enrollment in the Children’s Health Insurance Plan (CHIP), a child must not be enrolled under a group health plan or other health insurance that provides coverage through which they have not exhausted their maximum lifetime benefits; have access to health insurance coverage available through an employer where the cost to enroll the child in the plan is less than 5% of the household’s gross countable annual income (see 220-4 #1); or be eligible to enroll under a state employee’s group health insurance plan (see Section 220-6). Each of these is defined further in this section.
