110  SAFEGUARDING INFORMATION

The Department must safeguard or restrict access to any information we have on specific enrollees.  It does not matter whether this information is kept in the case record, in the computer system or somewhere else.  It can be shared only as described in Sections 111-1 and 111-3.  Any person who fails to safeguard information is subject to both civil and criminal penalties.

There are strict rules for treatment of data from Income Match. (This is the Income Eligibility Verification System (IEVS) of computerized income matches among agencies.  See sections 110-1, 110-2, 111-3 #4 & 706 for details.)

The Department is not required to safeguard information that cannot be identified with a specific enrollee.
